Name Card for Nam June Paik

Maciunas aimed to spread the influence of Fluxus throughout his artistic circle, as evidenced by his bold declaration to “purge the world of bourgeois sickness, ‘intellectual,’ professional & commercialized culture” in his 1963 Fluxus Manifesto. Using his background in graphic design, Maciunas created a wealth of newsletters and mailings, distributing them to Fluxus artists and potential clients. He also designed a series of name cards for the Fluxus artists, each card bearing a unique graphic of the artist’s name using various fonts.
