Paik collected antique Japanese scrolls and occasionally incorporated these into his works. Here he simply added a photograph of Moorman wearing TV Bra for Living Sculpture taken by Peter Moore, Moorman’s close friend and photographer of many of New York’s avant-garde events. On the scroll itself is a painting of a woman playing the koto, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument. The juxtaposition connects two musicians across time, space, cultures and media. Paik also inscribed the scroll with a number of handwritten dedications and poetic instruction pieces.
